Since 2022, Hidayati, a staff member at Assyakirin Mosque, has been involved in the Befrienders Programme as a volunteer. She dedicates her time to assisting with various aspects of life, such as answering questions about Islam and offering guidance for coping with challenges. In her role, she mentors three 16-year-old girls at Melrose Home, engaging them with enjoyable activities and discussing their hobbies, values, and relationships with family and God. Beyond religious mentoring, she also provides advice on personal management and studies. Her commitment has been well-received, with one mentee sharing that the sessions have been beneficial for her mental well-being.
Hidayati looks forward to extending her outreach to more youths at Melrose Home to support them during this critical phase of seeking purpose and identity.
