Our Community

Befrienders Programme

The Befrienders Programme is an initiative aimed at providing social support to our children and youths at Melrose Home. By engaging with them through regular face-to-face interactions, volunteers can create meaningful connections and contribute positively to the well-being of these young individuals.

Volunteers participating in the Befrienders Programme undergo training to ensure they are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to interact effectively and empathetically with our children and youths.

CSR & Group Volunteering

We welcome initiatives by groups and organisations that fall under at least one of the following categories:

e.g. arranging learning journeys to workplaces to provide our children and youths exposure to different career paths and insights into specific industries

e.g. organising Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) workshops where volunteers with expertise in STEM fields can share their knowledge and engage in interactive activities. This could include science experiments, coding sessions, or engineering challenges tailored to the residents’ abilities and interests.

e.g. organising a carnival where residents and staff can participate in various games and activities to foster interaction and build relationships

e.g. sponsoring tickets to local attractions, events or recreational activities that residents and staff can enjoy together for shared experiences outside the home environment

Find out more in the FAQs or contact us at least 3 months before your preferred volunteering period.

Skills-based Volunteering

We welcome individuals who possess specialised skills and qualifications to contribute their services in conducting workshops for our children and youths at Melrose Home. These workshops could cover a range of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, robotics and more.

We are also on the lookout for volunteers who have skills in photography, videography, graphic design or translation. These volunteers will collaborate closely with our CAS staff to create content and expand our impact.

Ad-hoc Volunteering

We require the support of volunteers on an ad-hoc basis for fundraising events, transportation for the children and youths at Melrose Home, and more.
